Mohammed Shuaib holds a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Technology and has about 20 years of experience in the Distributed Control Systems. His experience included System Engineering, Installation and Commissioning of Control Systems for various refineries and petrochemical plants. He is currently working as a Senior System Support Engineer in Bahrain Petroleum Company and is involved in the Installation, Commissioning of Control Systems and Subsystems in the refinery. He is active team member for devising the Alarm Philosophy & Alarm Objective Analysis document for the Refinery. He was involved in the preparation of specification and installation Alarm Management System for refinery and also carried out an Alarm Objective Analysis on one of the units in the refinery meeting the EEMUA guidelines.

Luay has more than 22 years of experience on process instrumentation especially control valves and pressure relief devices, mostly with Saudi Aramco central engineering organization. Luay has been an officer of ISA Saudi Arabia Section for the last 10 years and has been the Section President since 1/1/2009.

Mohamed Hafez is Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (CEng FIET) and Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE). He is specialized in the engineering of instrumentation, control and safety systems and smart field infrastructure for oil & gas field development projects. He is an experienced SIL chairman and chaired several SIL sessions for major oil & gas projects (2007-2014).  He is now the chief of control engineering in the Technical Centre of Engineering and Projects in ADCO. He was one of few staff responsible for the smart-field program in ADCO and contributed to the implementation of the first smart field in UAE. He has 35 years of ex­perience and authored / co-authored several papers that have been presented at international conferences and/or published.

He has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering in 1992 and verse in different backgrounds like industrial control systems, systems engineering, and building cyber security strategies and models. He is a member in the Cyber Security Advisory boards of top rated worldwide universities for the advancement of researches on industrial cyber security. He is an active member in different international Security Innovation Alliances that are focused in a worldwide program for improving the security of industrial control systems by the close collaboration of the leading IT Security and industrial control system vendors. He is also information contributor to the ISA99/IEC62443 Industrial Automation and Control Systems Cyber Security Standards, and he is currently leading workgroup 1 in the standard. Realizing that security measures are always behind the emerging cyber risks, he developed an ICS defense-in-depth industrial cyber security model that aims to early detection of threats based on security-through-vision-and-integration. Ayman worked for ADMA-OPCO for 17 years and he was the Digital Oil Fields Cyber Security Advisor. He joined Booz Allen Hamilton in 2014 as the Chief Technologist & Senior Advisor/Architect in Industrial Cyber Security – MENA.

Mr. Khalaf has extensive (35) years’ experience in Engineering and Project execution for Oil & Gas Industries pertaining to Mega Greenfield and Brownfield Projects. This includes multi discipline Projects with Major Automation Upgrade Projects involving Multiphase meters . He held Various post with ADNOC Group of Companies in Engineering, Operations, Projects. Abdullah is chairman of the Saudi Aramco Process control standards committee and SME in several process control fields and systems. John Kinsley is an Engineering Specialist with the Process Automation Systems unit of P&CSD.  John was involved in developing the Process Automation Systems Lifecycle Management program of Saudi Aramco, and is currently leading the lifecycle management program for P&CSD.  He has twenty five years of experience in the discipline of Process Automation and Control systems including ten years with Saudi Aramco P&CSD.  Prior to joining Saudi Aramco, he was an engineering consultant with The Foxboro Company, and was involved in the design and commissioning of several major control systems used in Saudi Aramco plants. John is a Certified Automation Professional with the International Society of Automation (ISA) and a Certified Functional Safety Engineer with TUV.

He has over 19 years of practical experience in the design, implementation, support and troubleshooting of Advanced Process Control applications. His areas of expertise includes, Distribute Control System DCS, basic Instrumentations, Advance Regulatory Control, Multivariable Control and inferentials.

Hussain is a certified Professional Engineer P.E. in Control System Engineering (CSE) from National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE). He also holds a Certified Automation Professional (CAP) certification from ISA.

Ahmad Basri holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL, USA (1998). He started his career at PETRONAS in field instrumentation prior to focusing in Analytical Instrumentation in 2001.

Before joining Saudi Aramco, his last position was Technical Professional senior engineer at PETRONAS Melaka Refinery in Malaysia specializing in Analytical Instrument and Custody Measurement. Currently Ahmad Basri is the process analyzer engineer at Saudi Aramco Process and Control System Department.

Brian Curtis is the Vice President of ISA District 12 which includes Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is also an Executive Board member of ISA.

Brian is an Engineering Consultant with thirty years project experience in the disciplines of Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls working in the chemical and Pharmacutical industry. Prior to Joining DPS Engineering he worked with Fluor and Jacobs Engineering. His experience includes the design, construction, commissioning and validation of several major control systems including Delta V, Foxboro and Siemens on projects in Ireland, England, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Brian also sits on the Hazardous Areas standards committee of the Electro-Technical Council of Ireland.

Dr. Sami Ferik

Dr. El Ferik obtained his B.Sc in Electrical Engineering from Laval University, Quebec, Canada, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. both in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique, University of Montreal, Canada. He worked with Pratt and Whitney Canada as a Staff Control Analyst at the Research and Development Center of Systems, Controls, and Accessories.

Since joining KFUPM, his research interests has been in sensing, monitoring, and control with strong multidisciplinary research and applications especially in unmanned robot vehicles. He supervised several graduate students in their research and undergraduate students in their final capstone projects. He managed successfully different research projects.
